Yog-asanas

Yoga is not an ancient myth buried in oblivion. It is the most valuable inheritance of the present. It is the essential need of today and the culture of tomorrow.

We teach a mix of different styles of Yog:

  • Traditional forms of yoga

  • Hatha yoga

  • Iyengar yoga: uses props like belts, blocks, blankets and boosters. We provide the equipment for this form of yoga

We believe that when different styles are integrated into the practice they work on all aspects on ones personality and bring a completeness to your training. We do not believe that we will ever know everything there is to know but we will ensure that we are always on the lookout to expand our knowledge and bring you the best of all schools of practice.

Pranayama

As long as there is prana (breath) in the body there is life. When prana departs, so does life. Therefore always retain and regulate breath.

Pranayama is the technique through which we expand our respiratory system on purpose. It helps in increased intake of oxygen ultimately leading into increased lung capacity. Prana is the vital energy force pervading the body as well as the entire universe. Since prana is intrinsically linked to the mind, controlling one helps in gaining control over the other. Focussing on the breath helps in calming the mind and making it focussed.

Relaxation:

In todays world people find it very difficult to relax. Their minds are always in an overdrive with thoughts streaming through - even when they are resting. There is a lot of stress and anxiety in the day to day life which makes it impossible to relax.

Systematic relaxation techniques help in alleviating the anxieties and stresses of daily living, the emotional ups and downs. They lead to the person feeling calm and joyful at the same time; full of self confidence, ready to face the world.

  • Focussing on the breath or different parts of the body takes the mind away from disturbing thoughts.

  • Savasana and Yog Nidra are excellent ways to bring about relaxation. A few minutes of Yog Nidra are equivalent to few hours of sleep.

Meditation

Meditation is not a means to an end. It is both the means and the end.
— Jiddu Krishnamurti

Meditation is the process of going back to our centre, a way to discipline our mind. Meditation means mindfulness and inner stillness. It teaches us not to be distracted by thoughts, feelings and emotions but to confront them. It requires time and effort to reach that state of bliss and joy.
